Rules
Army lists are to be submitted to Kurt Knippel.
Army lists are due by Feb 14th, 2008. You may change your army type up until the army list submission deadline. If you do not turn in your army list by the 8th it will be penalized composition points. We will accept army lists in the following formats:
* Plain text/RTF
* Microsoft Word
* Microsoft Excel
* Army Builder HTML or text only. Regular Army Builder files can sometimes be difficult to open depending on the version used to create them.
NOTE: While we like Army Builder for the formatting and clean presentation of the army list, it is not an official source of rules or point values and will not be taken in place of the appropriate army codex or rulebook. Make sure that you check all of your points, selections, and stats against your army book or codex.
Cancellation Policy
Also note that as we run this thing on a tight budget and have many fixed costs, we have a limited ability to issue refunds. If you do have to cancel out on us, please let us know as soon as possible!
Cancellations at least three weeks prior to the event will receive a refund equal to half the amount they paid for registration.
Cancellations closer to the event than this will not be refunded. We're sorry it has to be this way, but by that time the money will have already been committed to one of the various event expenses!
Warhammer Fantasy Battle Tournament Rules
Army Size and Games
Your Warhammer armies shall not exceed 2250 points. This will be a five round tournament.
Army Restrictions and Rules
The general rules for the Warhammer Fantasy Battle tournament are straightforward. You must use the same army for each game. The 7th edition set of rules must be used. Furthermore, players should know that this tournament is for fun; and that poor sportsmanship will not be tolerated.
You must create your army using the appropriate Warhammer Armies book, Ravening Hordes, or the most updated official lists in the Warhammer Annuals or Chronicles. Trial Rules, Appendix Armies and White Dwarf lists are not permitted.
Your army does not have to be painted but must be fully assembled. Fully painted armies are encouraged and you will not be able to gain painting points if your army is not painted.
You must bring a 2,250-point force using the standard 2,250-point force restrictions.
What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG).
If a model is armed with an item, it must be shown on the figure. Models for army list choices that are not available must be converted. If you are in any way in doubt about whether your conversion or scratch built piece might not be acceptable please contact us before the tournament. We don't want someone to show up with something they can't use! This tournament will have a painting score so painted models are highly recommended.
You may use non Games Workshop models in this tournament. But must still be WSIWYG as best as possible.
You may use Special Characters other than Thorek and Morghur. Note that this includes any Regiment of Renown consisting entirely of characters and any mounts they may have.
The most current rules clarifications from the Warhammer Annuals, Chronicles and White Dwarf will be in use.
Storm Of Chaos Armies: Sea Patrol, Middenheim and 'Ard Boyz may not be taken.
Lustria: The Lustria army lists may be taken.
Ogre Kingdoms Rhinox Cavalry: Ogre Rhinox cavalry may be taken as Dogs of War units as per the rules located in White Dwarf. The Iron Skin Tribe list is not allowed.
Gut Magic and Rhinox Riders: For this tournament, none of the unit augmenting Gut Magic spells (Bull Gorger, Tooth Cracker and Troll Guts) can be cast upon Rhinox Riders.
You must conduct yourself in a manner that will not bring our hobby into disrepute.
You must bring all materials needed to play including the basic rulebook for 7th edition, your army book, dice, measuring device, templates, models, and any additional rules that you will be using.
Bring at least two copies of your army list, preferably typed. Hand written army lists are difficult to read and this increases the chance of scoring errors.

There are a total of six possible scenarios, only five of which will be used. The numbers beside each scenario do not reflect the order in which they will appear at the tournament.

Scenario 2: Guerilla Warfare

Composition Scoring
The composition score is worth a possible total of 36 points.
The army Composition score will be a result of both player and judge input. One Judge will review the composition of each army list. The judge will score each list using the guidelines below. Each of the player’s opponents through each round will give a composition score for your army using the same guidelines. Here are the guidelines for scoring:
Themed (5-6 pts): This is a list that is highly themed and sticks to that theme, even to the detriment of the power of the list. This is an army that anyone should have fun playing or playing against.
Normal (2-4 pts): An average list with a balanced mixture of strengths and weaknesses. This is your typical army, most armies will fall into this category.
Hard (1 pt): A list obviously meant to be purely competitive with the strengths of the army maximized and the weaknesses avoided. A list with little or no theme readily appearant. Except to the most competitive of players, this is not likely to be a fun army to play against.
Over The Top (0 pts): A list which is unbalanced in such a way as to make playing against it painful and tedious. A "broken" list.It is our desire that we do not have give out any 0 comp scores.
The judge will rate your army on this scale to produce a possible 6 points. Each of your five opponents will also judge your army on this scale at the end of each game for a possible 30 additional points.
Battle Scoring
The battle score is worth up to a total of 95 points. After each battle players will count up their victory points unless the scenario states no VPs will be used in which case consult the scenario for the results. VPs are calculated by subtracting the lower score from the higher and compare the result to the following table:
Victory Points Result Battle Points
300+ Victory 15
0-299 Draw 12
N/A Loss 8
Each scenario will have up to a possible four bonus battle points awarded on top of the above score based on meeting scenario objectives.
Sportsmanship Scoring
The sportsmanship score is worth a possible total of 50 points.
For each game you play you will rate your opponent based on the following, using the range of scores in the brackets to vary the score depending on the level of the game.
Great Game (7-10 pts): This game was fun and regardless of the outcome we both had a blast!
Average Game (4-6 pts): This game was about the average game of Warhammer Fantasy Battle/Warhammer 40K that I experience.
Not Fun (0-3 Pts): This opponent was not fun and this is not because I might have lost. I would never want to play this opponent again!
In addition to the points above, each player will select one of the opponents that they played through the course of the tournament as their favorite opponent. For each favorite opponent vote a player receives they are awarded an additional 2 points. These points will be added to your overall score and can influence final outcomes of the Best sportsman award and Best overall.
Paint Scoring
The painting score is worth a possible total of 33 points (3 of those points are bonus). Two painting judges will score each army on a 15 point scale as detailed below. The two scores are added together to get the total score out of 30. The display base bonus is applied to the score only once.
Not Painted (0 pts): The army is assembled but completely (or darn near) unpainted.
Partially Painted (1-3 pts): The army has unpainted models but at least half of the models are finished to at least standard quality.
Standard Quality (4-6 pts): Figures are painted similar to the “how to paint” sections of Games Workshop army books. This quality can include a single coat of ink, dry brushing, or layer of highlights. Bases are painted or have a basic sand approach or all static grass.
Tournament Quality (7-9 pts): Figures are painted using several layers of highlights and shading and/or clean black-lining. The models look great on the battlefield and there is a consistent theme of colors used throughout the army. Some conversions have been made to a few models and are apparent when the army is displayed. The bases are sanded, painted and dry brushed with static grass (or snow, what ever matches the army’s theme).
Fine Detail Quality (10-12 pts): This is "Games Workshop" quality (the 'Eavy Metal team, not the regular staff); many of the figures features in the White Dwarf and boxed set covers are painted to this standard. Several layers are used to blend, all combined with well executed detail work. Scenic based with debris, sand, etc. bring the army together. A very clear theme that is well tied together is very distinguishable. Figures painted to this quality are often giving Best Painted awards.
Master Class Quality (13-15 pts): Models are pampered to the max. The models are painted to a master class level; meaning tattoos, unique cloak designs and script work, etc. A lot of conversions have been done; some models may even be mostly sculpted putty. Armies painted to his quality would have several units capable of winning Best Regiment/Single Model awards. Painting just does not get any better than this.
Display Base Bonus (1-3pts): If your army includes a display base (it must be large enough to fit your army onto) it can be worth bonus points for your paint score. Display bases will be judged to be Tournament Quality, Fine Detail Quality, or Master Class quality. Tournament quality display bases are worth one bonus point and are very basic; mostly being used to just transport your army from table-to-table and give in a common display area (a flat board with a hill or a couple of trees). Fine Detail quality display bases are worth two bonus points and are meant to tie the theme of the army together even more (a castle background with extra conversions, bodies hanging from the wall, etc.). Master Class quality display bases are worth three bonus points. They are really works of art and not only tie the army theme together but in conjunction with the army models play out a scene in front of you.
Bonus Scoring
In addition to the above items each player will also nominate one of his/her opponents for Best Theme, Best Appearance and Best Player. This will be done at the end of the tournament, after your final game. Each vote received by a player will be a bonus point into the appropriate category (Comp, Painting & Sportsmanship).
