Contact John Macomber if you have any questions or need clarification on any rules issues.

Q: Can I sign up for the event before paying?
A: Yes, just email John Macomber with your information to reserve a spot.

Q: Does the $60 entry fee include admission to the convention or do I need to sign up for the convention seperately?
A: The $60 entrance fee includes full registration to Strategicon OrcCon 2008 for all four days.

Q: Are Lizardman Sacred Spawning lists allowed?
A: Yes

Q: Are special characters allowed?
A: Special characters are allowed other than Thorek and Morghur.

Q: Are Salamanders treated as monsters and handlers or as skirmished infantry?
A: Since the Lizardman army book is a pretty old book (early 6th edition) and the Salamanders do not really fit into the monster and handlers rules for 7th edition, we have determined that for the Broadside Bash they will be treated as as skirmish infantry for all intents and purposes. The fact that they take a monster reaction check when all the Skinks are dead is a special situation for them.

Q: Are Salamander attacks flaming attacks?
A: Although the unoffical stance from Alessio Cavatore is yes, the written rules say no. We are siding with the written rules. Salamander attacks are not flaming.

Q: Does the steam tank give half victory points when brought to half or less starting wounds?
A: Yes.

Q: Do warrior priests, runesmiths, etc count as wizards? Can they use a bound spell on a miscast result of 5-6? Do models that generate dispel dice but not power dice count as wizards for purposes of magic items or effects that only affect to wizards?
A: They are not wizards and can not pitch bound spells on a 5-6 miscast result. The character must start the game with wizard levels to be affected by items and effects that only affect wizards.

Q: Does a wood elf treeman's strangleroot attack allow for stand and shoot as a charge reaction?
A: No.

Q: Can the wood elf magic item the Moonstone of the Hidden Ways be used in the opponent's movement phase?
A: No.

Q: Can I bring a protractor, compass or other tools to help me determine warmachine shots better?
A: No.

Q: When charging into combat should players slide attackers and defenders in order to maximize or should only the free wheel be used?
A: We will refer to the official Games Workshop FAQ for this answer.
The term 'clipping' refers to the situation when two units end up engaged in combat and are not facing fully against each other. This looks wrong, as a number of models will be standing facing thin air as their comrades, just a step away, are in the thick of the fighting.
The most common case of clipping happens when a unit is engaged to the front with two or more enemy units. If after the combat some of these units flee, while others don't, this may leave some models that were previously engaged without opponents to fight.
This may also happen during a charge, if the units are far apart, exactly at the maximum charge distance of the chargers. This situation will make it impossible for the chargers to wheel, because any wheel would mean that they fail the charge. Therefore they will have to charge directly forward. Funnily enough, a very similar situation can occur when the units are too close and the charging unit cannot physically wheel enough to bring the maximum number of models in combat. In all these extreme situations, if you want to play literally by the rules, you have to live with the clipping and continue with the game.
However, you should also feel free to agree with your opponent upon any gentlemanly solution which could avoid clipping situations. The best solution is normally to slide sideways the chargers (or the unit that won the fight), in order to bring more models in to the fight. This is not technically allowed by the letter of the rules, but if both players agree to do this, the game will benefit in realism and fun (you get to roll lots more dice!). The important thing to understand when you come across this sort of situation is that clipping is not in the spirit of the game and every effort should be made to avoid it. It just looks ugly!
